Congratulations to Jade Snoop for being chosen for Larry Merrill’s Dog Each Day! What gorgeous eyes! As Jade and Beatrice would say: Arrrooooo!

Here is Jade Snoop’s story on Dog Each Day:

We adopted Jade from the Virginia Beach SPCA on June 24, 2003. It all started on that same day when we were on an adoption waiting list for a 2 year old Dachshund at the Norfolk Animal Management Center. We called the shelter to see if the little guy had already been adopted because we were number 2 on the waiting list of people wanting to adopt him (if the first family fell threw and didnt want to adopt him, then we were next in line). The first people on the waiting list did go through with the adoption so we went to the VBSPCA hoping to find the new member of our family there. We walked by each kennel, one by one, and I saw a Hound dog lying down in the back of her kennelquietly waiting. We called her name (Snoop) and she looked at us for a couple of seconds and then got up and came over to the front of the kennel. Weve been looking to adopt a Beagle for some time, but her breed didnt even enter my mind when I first laid my eyes on her, until I read her profile sheet. In that moment, it seemed as though nothing mattered in the world except for us adopting this beautiful girl. The staff at the SPCA said that she was very shy, but we bonded with her in a matter of seconds. We signed the adoption papers and got to know her some more. Then we had to bring her back inside of her kennel because she still had to stay there for a couple more days to get spayed. As we were leaving, she started howling (you gotta love that Beagle bay) and crying wanting to come home with us that instant, but she couldnt that day. We visited Jade at the shelter every single day for 5 long days and after waiting, which felt like forever, we finally took her home! She hopped right into our car and when we arrived at our house, she made herself right at home! A little Dachshund was adopted on June 24, 2003 and so was a little Beagleour Beagle Jade! Two lives were saved on that very day! – Mary
