Many studies have shown that therapy dogs can help treat people who suffer from post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It appears that turnabout is fair play.
Military dogs in war zones are subject to the same stresses that lead to PTSD in soldiers. These stresses appear to be capable of causing PTSD-like symptoms in the dogs.
And, just as canine therapy appears to beneficial to humans with PTSD, human therapy seems capable of helping dogs with the syndrome.
