How to Tell if the Vet is Charging Too Much

Calling around to comparison-shop is never a bad idea. The vet I used to go to was drastically more expensive than our current vet, but I never realized it until I changed vets. The other vet was in a more ritzy section of town, and that might have had something to do with their higher prices (just like the prices at grocery stores are higher in our nicer sections of town). I’m 100% happy with the care we receive now, though, and I’d certainly pay more if I had to to get that level of care. The adage “you get what you pay for” isn’t always true — as I feel like I’m paying less now for better care — but getting care you trust and are comfortable with can be worth paying a slightly higher price.
