Last week, I blogged about a great holiday game and offer from Through a Dog’s Ear. (Click here to read that blog.) Happily but not surprisingly, the offer and game were very well-received, and will become an annual offering. You can read more about the contest by clicking here.
While the contest has ended for this year, the ongoing work of the folks at Through a Dog’s Ear to improve the lives of both family pets and those dogs still awaiting their “forever homes” continues. Today, let’s talk about two ways TADE (Through a Dog’s Ear) is helping those dogs in the latter population, the pups that may well be spending Christmas this year in a shelter or rescue, awaiting adoption.
SHELTER OUTREACH PROGRAM
Through a Dog’s Ear offers free and discounted c.d.’s to both shelters, rescues, and adopters. There are three phases in this program, and they are as follows:
- Music for the shelter. We provide two hours of clinically demonstrated music to be played in the shelters to reduce stress for dogs, visitors, and shelter staff.
- Music for adopters. If requested and approved, we also provide an initial number of free 1-hour CDs (up to 200) specifically to be included in adopter packets. Please look at this initial donation as the seeds of a long-term program. The only cost to your organization will be shipping.
- Adoption packet continuation. We encourage your organization to continue the adoption packet inclusion of Music to Calm Your Canine Companion after the initial donated allotment has been distributed. Sounds True, our most generous publisher, will provide additional CDs at a $2 per unit to approved non-profit facilities. (This is about 25% of wholesale. Retail is $15.)
If your shelter or rescue would like to take advantage of these offers, click here for more details. The people at TADE are committed to ongoing research and are always looking for shelters or rescue organizations who may be interested in participating in future studies on the correlation between sound and dog behavior, specifically as it relates to anxiety reduction. If your organization would be interested, please make a note to that effect on your program application, which can be downloaded here (it’s a .pdf file).
TADE RESCUE PLEDGES
Perhaps you have a favorite rescue or shelter that you routinely support with donations and/or volunteer efforts. One of the contestants from the recent contests at TADE felt this way about her favorite animal welfare organization, a West Highland White Terrier (“Westie”) rescue. This person contacted Lisa asking if she could sponsor TADE collections for animals which were adopted from that organization. She wanted to purchase copies of TADE for the next twenty dogs that were adopted out from the rescue organization of her choice. What a fantastic, generous idea and what a wonderful gift to those dogs and their future families.
If you would like to sponsor TADE c.d.’s or collections for adoptive families and their new dogs from your favorite rescue, here are the details:
If you would like to follow suit, please email Lisa (who has barely recovered) with Rescue Pledge Program in the subject title along with your contact information, the number of CYC series you would like to purchase, for which specific rescue (and their full contact information), and we will be back to you to make arrangements. We will discount the cost of each CYC series for this Pledge Program by an additional 10% (total 30% off CD price).
On behalf of dogs everywhere, let’s give a big round of thanks to Through a Dog’s Ear for not only providing a quality product which improves the lives of dogs and their people but also for continued advocacy and dedication to those dogs who are still waiting for the right person to give them a fabulous home.
