Cries Under Road Lead To Trapped Puppies
Puppies Stuck In Drainage Pipe

MELBOURNE, Fla. — Reports of cries and barking from under a road in Melbourne led to the discovery of several puppies trapped in a drainage pipe.

Firefighters in Melbourne said the puppies were spotted stuck under Lipscomb Street Tuesday afternoon.

Neighbors initially tried to free the puppies using rakes and ropes. Firefighters then used a blast of water to free one of the dogs.

After several hours, the second puppy was pulled out of the pipe.

Lipscomb Street was closed for two hours while firefighters went into the pipe to rescue the dogs.

The puppies were not injured. They were transported to animal control Tuesday night.
