Fleece Dog

This fun news comes from the Good Gallery Guide.

Hair Of The Dog

A new phenomenon in home made crafts is sweeping the country thanks to the influence of a Japanese artist with a penchant for pooches.

Fleece Dog was the brainchild of Japanese artist Nobuko Nagakubo aka Sinco, who was inspired to produce the first miniature canine by her own Petite Basset Griffon Vendeen – CJ. Since then she has gone on to make many more of the miniature models including working for celebrities such as Paul O Grady.

Japanese Artist, Sinco

Sinco now teaches people from across the country how to produce their own miniature versions of their pets from the moulted hair they collect from their homes and has been inundated with willing students who want to make lifelike miniature replicas of their own dogs.

Speaking about the success of her artworks, Sinco said: I went on national TV in Japan with the idea of using combed off dog her and people went mad for it. Japanese people really love their dogs. I think they like making models so people can admire their work and go awwww over their pet.”

I get many emails from people wanting to show me the models they have made of their own dogs. One man has made hundreds of them”.

A Fleece Dog

Fleece Dogs are created using a special needle to stab a piece of wool until it takes shape before adding genuine dog-hair. A frame is used to adapt the replica into the desired pose, which according to Sinco, can include everything from the dog lying in its basket to begging for a bone.

Sinco has now released a book on how to make Fleece Dog, which provides advice and guidance on how to build the miniature models and dog-lovers can buy kits for 8.50 if they want to have a go at making their own.
