The 10 Clever Ways to Keep Your Dog Gear & Accessories Organized

1. Dog Food Storage

Many dog owners buy their dog food—particularly dry food—in bulk, but those dog food bags are unsightly. One way to reduce clutter and keep your kitchen dog food bag-free is to convert your trash can drawer into food storage. Measure the space and find a plastic container with a tight lid that fits the area. Of course, if you do use the trash can drawer, you can also make space in another lower cabinet area for the dog food container.

2. Treat Storage

If you tuck away your dog’s dry food, do not forget the treats! Thankfully, treats usually come in small packages, so finding containers that match your kitchen’s aesthetic should be easy! You can even get custom-made ones on sites like Etsy.

3. Built-in Dog Sleeping Area

Have you ever tripped on your dog’s bed? Yup, most dog owners have at least once or twice. A solution to this is having a built-in dog bed area. It might be a bit expensive to have one built, but if you already have a small storage area under the stairs, this would be perfect! In addition to keeping the dog’s bed from under your feet, the dog will be pleased to have its own private space.

4. Toy Storage

Dog toys can cause clutter in your house, so having a place to put them is an excellent way to keep things organized. A toy storage container can be just about anything: a plastic tub, a wicker basket, a trunk, or a painted wooden box. Whatever you choose, having toy storage will be a lifesaver!

5. General Storage Area

Sometimes, dog owners have a lot of “bits and bobs” without a place to put them. Having a general storage area will greatly help keep all dog-related things in one place. Let’s face it: sometimes, it is a whole lot easier to have one devoted area where you keep leashes, medicine, dental equipment, and whatever else you have floating around.

6. Waste Bags Holder

If you take your dog to the park or a walk around the neighborhood, you need to be a good citizen and clean up after your dog. But when you carry poop bags on your walks, sometimes they end up in your jacket pocket, in your handbag, in your backpack, you get the idea. It would be much easier if you had a waste bag holder attached to your dog’s leash. This way, they are always available when you need them—as long as you remember where to put your leash!

7. Leash Hooks

When you get your dog excited for a walk, the last thing you want to do is delay the excitement by looking for a misplaced leash. Installing some hooks near your main entrance can greatly eliminate misplaced leashes. Your dog will thank you!

8. Dog Washing Station

Now, if you have some extra money to hire a contractor to do some work, you can get a dog washing station. Washing your dog in your own bathroom can make things messy. Having a dedicated area to keep your dog clean will keep your bathroom for humans only.

9. First Aid Kit

Much like a first aid kit for people, a dog-focused first aid kit will help you be organized and efficient in an emergency. It will also prevent you from grabbing the wrong medication or ointment to use on your dog. Most human medications are unsafe for dogs, so keeping things separate is wise.

10. Dog Medical Papers

It might be easy to toss all the papers from the vet into a pile with your other important papers, but having a designated folder with all the important notes and papers is essential. It will reduce clutter and keep things organized. Dogster_Website dividers_v1_Jan 18 2024-03

Conclusion

By following these tips and implementing effective organization strategies, you can create a tidy and functional storage system for your dog’s belongings. Organizing your dog’s supplies not only simplifies your life but also enhances your dog’s well-being and enjoyment of their toys, accessories, and essentials. An organized space is also beneficial for your mental health, helping you be the best pooch parent you can be to your favorite canine.
