Dogsters and Catsters are some of the most caring people, aren’t they? Debbie, Nikki’s furmom, was worried that another Dogster she had never met know that the other’s dog may have been poisoned by the recalled foods.

I’m posting Debbie’s comments because many more than one Dogster or Catster has barked in with reports of their loved ones dying suspiciously before the original recall dates.

I recall reading on your blog that a Dogster member lost her pet to renal failure, but since this happened prior to the dates mentioned by Menu Food, she wasn’t sure if the tainted food had killed her pet. I had responded, saying that it was quite likely. Well, Menu Foods did expand the recall dates back to November 8. I wish I could find that Dogster member’s original post to let her know about this.

Also today, Menu Foods, a major manufacturer of brand- and private-label wet pet foods, expanded its original recall to include a broader range of dates and varieties. Menu Foods was the first of at least six companies to recall the now more than 100 brands of pet foods and treats made with the contaminated ingredient.

The recall now covers “cuts and gravy”-style products made between Nov. 8 and March 6, Menu Foods said. Previously, it only applied to products made beginning Dec. 3. In addition, Menu Foods said it was expanding the recall to include more varieties, but no new brands.
