This Doberman Really, Really Digs the Backyard Pool Slide

The happy hound in this video goes run-climb-slide-splash -- over and over and over. And we can't stop watching.

We know … winter is upon us, which means pulling our sweaters, coats, and boots out of storage and saying good-bye to our hard-earned tans. It means dark, early nights, and bundling the dog up for chilly walks outside. It also means the holidays are on their way, and it’s time for festive family, fun, and love.

But just in case you find yourself longing for warmer days (they will come again), here’s a video of a Doberman having quite a bit of extravagant fun riding down a water slide.

We’ve heard the argument that dogs don’t feel complex emotions or understand abstract conceptions like the idea of having fun, but we can’t think of any other reason this giddy Doberman keeps running up the stairs for a splash. We’re having fun just watching her.

This Dobe is probably getting more out of the pool than the family who owns it ever does — after taking her first ride down the slide, the dog leaps out of the water, darts up the stairs, and goes for another … and another and another. Why would she keep going if she didn’t totally love it?

Lucky for her humans, this means she probably doesn’t need to be walked to exercise all that energy. Unfortunately, however, it does mean that the smell of wet dog must be a perpetual plague upon their house.
