You don’t have to be a dog lover to fall for the Dodobongo USB toy. You just have to like oddball things that connect to your computer and serve no purpose other than to be rather entertaining. (Kind of like my keyboard, some days…)
Dodobongo, according to his website, is 21, and the slowest-moving dog in the world. This page contains some animations with the Japanese mongrel’s backstory.
The Dodobongo USB character performs several feats reals dogs can, and a couple they can’t. When a person comes near, he’ll bark, move his head, or “run.” If you leave him alone for too long, he’ll also bark. (No, that wouldn’t be annoying when you’re trying to take a break from the computer.) Unlike real dogs, he blushes. And if you push a button on his bottom, you instantly access the Dodobongo Channel on your computer. Last time I tried that with my dog, he just looked at me like I was very strange.
The images below tell it all.
If you want to be first in your office to have a Dodobongo USB toy, you’ll have to go to Amazon Japan. It’s nothing I yen to do, especially since Japanese is Greek to me. But I’m sure Dodobongo will find his way to the US soon — even if he has to take one very slow step at a time…
