The folks over at Luisa Via Roma are hoping to end the dog days of some very lucky street kids in Bangladesh with the auction of limited edition plush pugs designed by some of the fashion industry’s most prominent players.
There are 22 pugs available featuring the fashionable flavor of labels such as Versace, Roberto Cavalli, and Missoni. Each pug has been “adopted” by a notable fashion blogger, who in turn generates publicity for the fundraiser by writing about their dog. The stuffed animals are then auctioned on eBay, with all proceeds benefitting UNICEF Project ARISE (Appropriate Resources for Improving Street Children’s Environment) which helps get kids in Bangladesh off the streets through education and stable housing.
Combining the efforts of designers, bloggers, and humanitarians, the pugs are a uniquely couture and creative way to raise funds and awareness for children in need in Bangladesh. Don’t have thousands of dollars to drop on a stuffed dog? Don’t worry! You can still help out with the purchase of an exclusive tote bag adorned with illustrations of the plush pugs.
Here are some of our favorite pugs from the collection, which includes a pink pug inspired by Sofia Coppola’s rockin’ retelling of Marie Antoinette. We love the gold courtesan shoes and towering wig!
