The fun fashion website, Chictopia, is running a very cool contest that’s sure to be a hit with clothing-conscious canines and their people. You and your dog simply take a creative photo together and upload it to the site. Clothing is optional for your dog, but not for you. (See the photos at the end of the post for a sample of Jake and me attempting to strike a pose. I’m the one in the hat AND clothes. He’s just wearing a hat.)

The Chic & The Fuzzy contest goes through May 16. Top prize is a $250 certificate to Market Publique, an online marketplace devoted to vintage clothes and accessories. Most of the clothes there seem to be from the 1980s (yes, that is considered vintage now), but they’ve got some real gems going as far back to the 1930s.

(A bonus, even if you don’t win: Market Publique is looking for quality vintage pieces and sellers with integrity. We know Dogsters have integrity, so if you also happen to have some quality older items you can part with, you might be able to make a few bucks. Check out the info for sellers.)

You don’t have to be a model to enter. Just wear some interesting threads, take a great photo with you and your dog together, and provide a little description of why your dog is the most chic of all. Here’s an example:

This is how the dog’s owner, Vestis Vates, describes the photo on the site: “This is Baron. He doesnt need any clothes because he has his own natural, beautiful coat of fur. He sports a stylish, soft white fur bib with matching white fur booties. He also quite nicely matches my thrifted plaid dress, belt, and boots. Only problem is that he is always trying to impose his style on me (by getting his fur on my clothing) and he leaves his fur all over the house. He also has a knack for finding any out of place clothing on the floor and promptly making his bed on it.”

Click here for more contest details. Dogster is a proud sponsor of the contest, in part because we know how many fashion-forward dogs we have at Dogster. Let’s make Dogster’s presence known over in Chictopia! Snap away, and upload the photos on Chictopia. (You’ll have to open an account for yourself there first, FYI. It’s easy, though.)

I would do my part and submit a photo my 13-year-old human daughter took of Jake and me in some Bohemian/vintage outfits she put together, but I am not eligible because of my Dogster position. So I will just show them to you here. Shhh, don’t tell anyone. I felt a little silly in this combo, but Jake seemed to feel worse in his girly hat. After every “normal” shot he walked off and removed his millinery. (And that’s twice in one day for that word on Dogster!)

Jake and your faithful Dogster blogger in vintage/Bohemian threads, doing our part to inspire fellow Dogsters to put your best fashion feet forward and enter the Chictopia contest. (Photo: Laura Altair) Enough humiliation for Jake! Note also that I now have ferns growing out of my hat. (Photo: Laura Altair)
