If you live near Fort Lauderdale, FLA, you may want to mark May 12th on your calendar as the day to visit the Companion Animal Disaster Preparedness Fair put on by the United Animal Nations (UAN) and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), through their Community Animal Disaster Preparedness Partnership. The event is Friday, May 12 from 7 to 10 p.m. at Central Bark Doggy Day Care, 3699 N. Dixie Hwy. in Oakland Park.
United Animal Nations (UAN), through its volunteer-driven Emergency Animal Rescue Service (EARS), assisted more than 2,100 animals at six locations in three states in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita last fall. EARS Florida State Coordinator Andy Bass (seen here with Katrina-survivor Fooey) a veteran of four disaster responses on behalf of animals, says, Experts predict another active hurricane season, and we want to encourage families to plan ahead so they and their pets will stay safe.”
