California dog rescued from Alberta cold
Elise Stolte, edmontonjournal.comEDMONTON – An American dog who took a liking to the Canadian prairies will soon be heading south.
Jake the dog arrived with his owners from San Diego, Calif., on a trip to visit family in Wetaskiwin last August.
One warm evening, he wandered off. Weeks of searching turned up nothing, and Jake’s owners had to fly back without him.
Then on Jan. 30, someone discovered the dog under an abandoned bus near the Baptist Church in Ponoka. A community peace officer stopped by and lured the dog out with some turkey pepperoni sticks.
