K9 Magazine reports that British telly stars will be lighting up a race course to benefit retired greyhounds.
TV Stars Come Out For Retired Greyhounds
Towcester Race Course in Northampton is to host the countrys biggest greyhound fair on Sunday, 4 September. Organisers who represent both the local branch of the Retired Greyhound Trust (RGT) and Northants Greyhound Rescue, are hoping to beat last years numbers which saw 400 greyhounds and 1,000 people attend from all over the country.
The event will begin at 10am when One Foot in the Grave star, Annette Crosbie and her four retired greyhounds, officially open the Greyhound Gala. Annette will also be joined by actress, Jaye Griffiths, star of The Bill and Drop the Dead Donkey.
Greyhounds can then spend the rest of the day showing off their great looks and elegant walks in a series of competitions. The greyhounds will be banded by age with a special category for the over 12s.
Weather permitting, visitors might get to see greyhound sweethearts, Teazle and Minxie, who have been inseparable since they met ten years ago. Both ex-racers, 12-year-old Teazle and ten year old Minxie have always shared the same kennels and are now looking for a home where they live out their last years together.
Sisters, Trudy and Tizzie who are both 11 years old, have been together since birth and are also hoping to visit the show from the RGT kennels and hope to find a loving family which will let them put up their paws and be pampered.
