A dog has survived after spending a month with a huge splinter stuck millimetres from his brain.

Flint stumbled to fetch the stick thrown by his owner, Nicky Killeen.

She had no idea a three-inch splinter had pierced her pet’s face until his eye swelled to the size of a golf ball.

Vets gave Flint an MRI scan – and were shocked to see the dagger-shaped piece of wood lodged behind his left eye.

They had to remove his cheekbone to get it out costing 3,600, reports The Sun.

Nicky, 41, of Wrabness, Essex, said: “He’s 100 per cent OK again – and still chasing sticks.”
