Recently there have been a number of requests for help for dogs and cats being left behind by soldiers being deployed overseas. Here’s an answer. Guardian Angels for Soldier’s Pets helps these furbabies so they can be fostered and not rehomed. Guardian Angels is also building a sanctuary in Arkansas for pets who cannot be reunited with their military pet parents.
Here is what the organization says about itself:
Work with communities, the appropriate government representatives, and military representatives to accomplish our mission and goals.
Locate, interview, and monitor temporary loving and caring foster homes within the state of Arkansas and work with our affiliated chapters to locate, interview, and monitor pet foster home caregivers in their respective state/area.
Interact with the military individual to identify and obtain the required documentation (i.e., pet resume, vet records, current vaccination record, etc.),Work with the military individual to bring their pet from their home to the foster home, monitor the care of the pet while in foster care (i.e., home visits, required medical care),
Remain in contact with information about the pet (i.e., via letter, emails, and pictures) to the military person while he/she is deployed.
They are currently looking for good folks to open affilated chapters in other states.
