Dogs may be man’s best friend, but they sure aren’t proving to be man’s best chauffeur.
The latest in a string of lousy dog drivers struck (literally) a few days ago. A Florida man was checking under the hood of his Ford F-150 truck, which was parked in neutral with the engine on, when his bulldog jumped into the truck and knocked it into gear. The truck started moving, and ran over the man’s left side, according to AP.
Ouch! That about 5,000 pounds of Ford, if you include the dog. The man, Christopher Bishop, was able to get up and stop the truck, and finally got himself to the hospital hours later, in great pain. Thankfully his injuries are not life threatening, say reports.
The incident is one of many in recent years where dogs get behind the wheel and cause mayhem. Here are just a few of the headlines from stories about these little joy rides:

Are these bad dogs, or just dogs who need to go to driver’s ed? We may never know. But the next time your dog’s ears perk up when you ask if he wants to go for a ride in the car, you might want to think twice about his motives…
