Celebrate Responsible Ownership
Are any Dogsters involved with any events celebrating the American Kennel Club’s Responsible Dog Ownership Day (which lasts a month?)? If so, bark in and tell me what it is, when it is and which Dogsters (or Catsters) are involved.
AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Day is Just Around the Corner!
Whether you’re a life-long dog owner or have just added a new puppy to the family, be sure to circle the month of September on your calendar to mark “AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Day.” This month-long celebration involves hundreds of organizations around the country holding free events filled with fun and engaging activities every dog lover can enjoy. AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Day events are listed here.
While each event is unique, all are entertaining and educational and may include obedience/agility demonstrations, microchipping clinics, breed rescue information, therapy dog/service dog demonstrations and presentations on safety around dogs for kids. Attendees can speak one-on-one with experienced dog breeders and trainers as well as veterinarians and technicians. And for those looking to show their neighbors that their dog is a respectable member of society, there’s the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Program sponsored by K9 Advantix-a 10-step test certification that recognizes well-mannered, obedient dogs.
