For years, we've heard about how dangerous it is to leave your pet in a closed car, even for a few minutes. Such tragedies need not happen if we follow some basic guidelines for keeping our pets healthy when the weather heats up in the summer months.

It was the second day of our 10-day hunting trip in the northeastern part of Montana when Jake got some type of sharp sliver between the web of his paw.  When his foot swelled I tried to treat it myself, but when that failed I went to the closest vet—27 miles away. I was told Jake needed surgery; however, the vet couldn't do it because he was too busy so I drove another 80 miles to a vet who was able to perform the surgery. After returning to California, I submitted the VPI claim form to the Montana vet who completed it and sent it to VPI. We were reimbursed $110.66 of our $172.92 bill! The service by VPI was prompt and efficient, and we’re grateful Jake’s policy can travel with us.
