112 Donors Needed To Save Thai Dog Charity

The Soi Dog Foundation, a Thai based charity that cares for abandoned, sick and hungry animals in could be out of existence by next January if they can’t secure support from 112 more dog lovers. Soi Dog Foundation is non profit fully registered Thai foundation dedicated to helping the stray dogs and cats of the Phuket region of Thailand, a popular tourist destination.

Founded 3 years ago and run by expatriate volunteers who donate their time and much of their own money, it was the only organization in the region working in the aftermath of the Asian tsunami, and achieved worldwide recognition as a result, including an award from the Humane Society International.
Its main aim is to set an example to the rest of the Asian region on how to humanely control a stray population by mass sterilization.

In under 3 years SDF has sterilized over 14,000 dogs and cats. It operates a shelter and re-homing centre for abandoned and abused animals, a feeding program, responds to emergencies, and treats thousands of animals every year suffering from injury and disease. Thailand has no state-funded or national animal charities, nor does it have any effective laws pertaining to cruelty to animals.

For our Thai Dogsters looking for other ways to help, I noticed that the Soi Dog Foundation also needs a volunteer photographer and volunteers to feed the animals.
