Here is a fun story from Australia’s the Sunday Mail. Now this is a guy who has NOTHING to prove! You just got to love him and Anna!
A Dog and Her Hog
MARTIN Beare loves his “hog” and his dog. So when the Sunshine Coast bobcat driver hits the highway on his Harley, tiny terrier Anna comes along for the ride.
Five-year-old Anna is no stranger to motorbikes and heavy machinery.
When she’s not on Mr Beare’s Harley-Davidson, Anna catches a free ride on his bobcat or on the back of his brother Sean’s 1.5 tonne excavator.
“She loves being on both,” Mr Beare said.
“On the bike Anna leans into the corners, balances on the fuel tank and is the best pillion passenger you could hope for.
“On the heavy equipment she just has a seat and watches the work get done.”
While many bikers opt for big dogs such as dobermans and rottweilers, Mr Beare says maltese terriers are definitely man’s best friend: “She might not fit the biker stereotype, but she’s the best dog for the open road.”
The Mt Coolum resident said Anna wore goggles, a denim jacket, a Harley-Davidson scarf and a home-made helmet made from a modified food scoop.
“I hunted everywhere to find a helmet for her, but there was nothing on the market,” Mr Beare said. “So I got a food scoop and chopped the handle off and attached a strap.
“She’s also got a raincoat and three jumpers for the bike.”
Mr Beare said there was a price to pay for being unique.
“We get stopped at least twice a day by people asking to take photos.
“It’s much worse on the weekends, so I’ve started asking people to do something worthwhile and donate $1 to the RSPCA every time they take a picture. We’ve raised quite a bit so far.”
He said police and Queensland Transport authorities never stopped him or raised questions about his passenger, who wears a harness when she’s on the bike.
“The police just wave and smile when they see us.”
