Louisiana Officers Indicted in Mass Murder of Dogs During Katrina Evacuation and Rescue
Good news on the Katrina front! Two officers have been indicted on the mass murder of 33 pet dogs left in their care during the Katrina evacuation. I won't go into the grisly details. The Pasado's Safe Haven site has a very thorough write-up on the massacre and the evidence afterward.
Tail wags to Pasado's Mark Steinway as well as the two of Louisiana best Deputy Prosecutors, Mimi Hunley and Emma Devalier! You folks make the rest of us humans look good!
Thanks to Boo and the Crew (Afwe, Tia's Savannah Skye, Princess Diana, Valentine, In Memory of my Max, In Memory of Sheba, Miss Benson, Raven SD, and Lady Brianna of Skye Fire for barking in to let us all know this news!
For all who were involved with the Katrina rescue efforts, and all who were incensed by the wanton shooting deaths of pets in St Bernard's Parish, there's news that indictments have been handed down for felony animal abuse.
(Pasado's has approved & encourages cross-posting of this info)
Out of that hell, a bit of justice may finally emerge.

GRAND JURY INDICTMENTS HANDED DOWN!
PLEASE CROSS-POST WIDELY!!
Pasado's Safe Haven is pleased to announce that a Grand Jury has indicted St. Bernard Sheriff's Officers in the street shootings of dogs in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
According to Mimi Hunley, Asst. State Attorney General, Louisiana:
" The Grand Jury in St. Bernard Parish on Wednesday indicted former Deputy Mike Minton and presently employed Deputy Chip England for aggravated cruelty to animals related to the street shootings after Katrina. This is a felony and was the most serious of all the crimes they could have indicted them for. AAG Julie Cullen and I handled the presentation. We are still working on the school shootings.
Assistant Attorney General Criminal Division "
THANK YOU to Mimi Hunley and everyone at the Louisiana State Attorney General's Office and to ALL OF YOU who wrote and called and kept these cases alive!!!
As you know, Pasado's Safe Haven discovered 33 dogs and cats massacred in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in St. Bernard schools and provided investigators the cost of necropsies (animal autopsies) on all 33 animals (costing $7700) and shot DV videotape of the dead animals as part of an Louisiana State Attorney General investigation in the school shootings.
