Congratulations, dogs! An Associated Press-Petside.com poll of about 2,000 adults showed that 74 percent like dogs a lot, while only 41 percent like cats that much. We know that adds up to more than 100 percent, but it’s OK in a poll like this.

But don’t be sad, cats. (Do cats read this even blog? We know Diego does, but he’s more like a dog than a cat, we think.) You win one category paws down: You beat out dogs in the “dislike” category. About 15 percent of those polled said they disliked cats a lot. Only 2 percent said the same about dogs. Could video images like the one below — burned into our brains as impressionable children — have something to do with it?

UPDATE, evening of Jan. 13 — It has come to Jake’s attention that we have a full-on cat uprising on our hands from the “other -ster” — Catster. Check out the comments below. Jake is eating dinner, and then has to take a nap, but after that, he is going to pen a retort to the Skeezix’ battle cry. Dogs, keep your writing paws nimble. Jake may ask you to pen your own barks over to the “other” side. This may go down in dogstory as The Battle of the Bow-Wow. Stay tuned!
