Forget your dead dog and get to school

By Nick Coligan, Liverpool Echo

A LIVERPOOL schoolboy who took a day off school to mourn his dog was ordered back to lessons by truancy officers.

Charlie Bowden was so upset at losing his dog Susie, who helped him through the death of his mother four years ago, that his father let him take a day off school.

But within hours of Cliff Bowden telling teachers his 14-year-old son, who has awards for excellent attendance, was too distraught to attend that day, truancy officers arrived to take him to school.

Susie died suddenly on Sunday night and Mr Bowden rang North Liverpool academy the next morning to explain his son was too upset to attend.
