Barkin Arts NYC, a New Breed of Gallery
Charles Fazzino's "Dogs on a Hot Tin Ruff Ruff"
Dogs everywhere have a new place to visit when they tour New York City. Barkin Arts NYC is a new breed of art gallery. It features art about dogs AND dogs can attend the events! How cool is that!?!! That's because when Barkin Arts NYC founder Pamela Carrier realized that her furkid Jolie couldn't attend stores and galleries, Pamela decided enough was enough. Here's what founder Pamela has to say about Barkin Arts NYC:
I recently founded Barkin' Arts NYC, New York's first non-profit arts organization focused on contemporary canine and animal theme art for children, adults and their cultured canine. Jolie, my loyal canine companion of thirteen years and Sofie, my parents rescued-rags to riches- Furbaby inspired me to create Barkin' Arts NYC.
Barkin' Arts NYC developed as the result of my devotion for dogs, art and children. I truly believe dogs, art and people belong together and benefit from one another!
On Wednesday, June 14, 2006, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, Barkin' Arts NYC will be launching, People, Paws & Paint", a Contemporary Canine Art Exhibition and Silent "Arf N' Art" Charity Auction at the Living with Art Gallery, located at 153 Lafayette Street, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10013 (Grand and Lafayette, dog-friendly elevator!) The evening will feature a silent charity art auction, highlighting dogs in a variety of media, along with special art and pet packages. Proceeds from the auction will benefit future Barkin' Arts NYC art exhibitions and children's art workshop programming and a portion of proceeds will be donated to Animal Haven Shelter.

What fun! I plan on trying to be there. Hope to see you! If you can't get there, you still might want to check out the Barkin Arts NYC online art gallery. There you can see some funky and fabulous art by some of today's most creative artists.
