The RSPCA is calling for local communities to help catch two people who are believed to be driving between South Australia and Victoria with a trailer-load of around 100 dogs.

Last week the elderly couple were convicted of 11 counts of cruelty to animals, but absconded before being sentenced.

A warrant has been issued for their arrest.

Aimee McKay from the RSPCA says authorities are very keen to find them.

"We're asking anyone in that area to keep an eye out for a couple in their late sixties and early seventies, with any number of dogs in a Nissan twin-cab with an enclosed trailer on the back," she said.

"If anyone sees anything like that please give the RSPCA and, or local police a call as soon as possible."
