We will not be taking a trip this year. When we went away in March Daisy got so upset she got so sick she almost died. So we will do our best to stay home always for her now. :0)

We have a very good friend, whom our dogs adore. He looks after them when we travel abroad, but this summer we're going to spend in our summerhouse. So of course they are coming along with us.

I went to the beach in May. Since so many hotels don't allow my four-legged babies, I sent them to camp (boarded them), it was expensive but worth every cent. They had a complete schedule of activities each day and seemed to enjoy it very much. They got to play every day with new friends and I had the peace of mind of knowing they were well taken care of. Of course, I would prefer to have them with me, next time I'm looking into renting a cottage or condo.

When we go on vacation so do our pooches. They go to a place that has cottages and they get their own cottage complete with an outdoor run and then several times a day they get to come out and run around the lawn. We also have our dog walkers come to the cottages and take them out for an hour each day.

We're definitely taking our babies on vacation. They absolutely love it. It's a long drive to our vacation home on Oak Island, NC, but they do just fine. They love the beach there - dogs are allowed all year round on the beaches. Sophie's already packing her toys!!! Oh, & we allow dogs at our vacation home too.

My Daddy leaves me and my sister (Roxie) at home a couple of weekends each summer. We don't mind a bit, we have an automatic feeder and an automatic waterer and our pet door so we can still play in the back yard. Our two legged aunts and uncles come by every once in a while and play with us. We really kind of like being home alone, we get to sleep in the big bed all by ourselves. It's fun! AND when Daddy comes home we play, play, play. I think he misses us more than we miss him!

I think Ethel told you everything ( she has such a big mouth!), but she didn't tell you that because our Dad leaves us at home we don't have to make that dreaded ride in the car. I hate it, especially if it is a long trip. The only thing I would change would be if Daddy would take Ethel and just let me stay home alone, but I don't think that is going to happen.

When my wife and me travel, we take our 6 year old shi-tzu, Mickey with us. We found out that all Leows hotels are pet friendly! They allow up to two pets per room and only charge a minimal $25.00 fee per stay as a clean up fee. We have stayed at Leows hotels in Miami, St Petersburg ,Florida and New York city. Also, the pets are given free food dishes, treats, and leashes upon arrival. Before, we had to leave Mickey at home but now, we just stay at the pet friendly hotels. Our dog is like a son to us.
He too gets upset and sick if we leave him. Thank goodness, this no longer is a problem. Marieta

We went to a terrific bed and breakfast inn in Mendocino, CA that is very dog friendly. It's the second time we were there. We played on the beach with our mom and dad, and got to go shopping in downtown Mendocino. My sister, Lacey found out that she really liked gophers, and kept sticking her nose in the gopher holes. We had a hard time getting her out.

My husband and I are retired and travel frequently. Our two small mixed breed dogs, Domino and Fluff, travel with us in our motor home every where we go and they love it. In March-April we traveled from Arkansas to Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Nevada and California. One of our dogs favorite spots is White Sands National Monument in New Mexico. They love to run and dig in the sand. In May-June we went to Missouri, Illinois, Indiana and Iowa.

We just go places around Florida but hope to take a trip up to Williamsburg, Virginia come October to visit Uncle Stephen and his dog "Klaus". "Klaus" loves to play with me but sometimes he scares me as he is a German Shepherd of 85 pounds. I am a Silky Terrier and only 5 lbs. 5oz. Bree our 1 1/2yr. old will be introduced to camping this year for the first time. And our old girl Sitka, would just as soon stay home in her cozy and cool house, with her cushy bed to sleep on. I'm going to take my travel trailer up to New York and the boys go with me. Bugsy is 14, so I hope he makes it. Hunter has been diagnosed with spondylosis, a condition of the spine, and I hope he's OK to go also. I have a Tahoe to tow it with so there's a lot of room in the back for them to move around. Jack has never been on a trip so it will be a first for him. Hunter & Bugsy traveled with me alot when I had my motorhome. They just loved camping and meeting all the people. It's a long trip towing this huge thing, but It will be worth it so all my old friends from the Rescue groups I was with can see them again. And meet Jack. It will be my first time back in 5 years, so I'm looking forward to it. As long as the boys can make it and be comfortable. The trailer is huge, with a big living room and a huge slide so there's ample room for all of us.

Lola and Bocce will be going with us on a road trip into Canada. They are really good in the car, so it's easy. We just make sure to find hotels/motels that allow dogs. Even if we have to pay a little extra, it is cheaper than having to board them or having a pet sitter come in. I could have the neighbors take care of them, but i enjoy traveling with them!!! Me and Zig frequently go camping in our teardrop trailer. He loves the Oregon coast and the long beaches and so do I. He's good in a hotel if it comes to that and our favorite, Salishan Lodge in Glen Eden, OR is pet friendly. They provide a special blanket, homemade dog cookies and lots of places to stroll on the grounds. Each room has a featherbed and nice fireplace for cold nights and it's just like home (but with a golf course).

This is going to be my 1st vacation. Mommy's taking me to South Lake Tahoe. We're taking Vicente ( mommy's youngest son 20 yo), tia (mommy's 59 yo handicapped sister) and papa (mommy's 84 yo daddy) Mommy was on the puter looking for a house so we could stay for 3 wks. first she asked if they'd let me stay there. then if they had a closed in yard. then if the house let a wheel chair go in. mommys been teaching me not to be afraid of fireworks, since we get them here everytime the city baseball team plays. I've been doing pretty good so I thinks I'll be ok for the 4th of July ones in Tahoe. Daddy was going to visit us on that weekend, but he changed his mind. I'm glad because then we can do what ever we want to do. They have a dog park and I hope I can go there. I haven't been to one since I was a puppy. Mommys going to do thing without me, but I know I can stay with papa. I'm pretty excited to go the backyard will have a doggie house, I'd rather be in the big house with mommy. ok time to go for see you later. Chuka

This spring we stayed at a dog friendly hotel in Gettysburg Pa. The town is very dog friendly. One of the highlights of that trip was an evening "ghost walk" through the town--and while our pooch might not have seen any ghosts-- she did enjoy the walk.

We were lucky enough to go on two vacations so far this year... one in Jekyll Island, GA (Sandy Paws) and one in Gatlinburg, TN (Mountain Hounds). These are greyhound events that are put on all over the country in different cities by different greyhound groups. We gather together at one resort or hotel for generally 3-5 days. Obviously the dogs get to go too... it's all about them!
At Sandy Paws in March there were approximately 400 greyhounds and their people in attendance and at Mountain Hounds, which we just returned from last week, there were around 300 hounds.
These events are wonderful as we can take our dogs with us while we socialize with friends and like-minded "greyhound nuts"... lol. There are various events at each one, greyhound games and fun runs, planned dinners out together, picnics and barbecues, seminars and speakers and of course greyhound vendors for the shopping and the dogs are welcome everywhere during the event!
It's GREYT fun and these are the only vacations we go on, since I just wouldn't have as good of a time if my greyhounds weren't with me!

We are going to Aunty's house next week to babysit her house & our four legged cousins while they go away on vacation.
We will have the whole house to ourselves & Mom will go swimming everyday. My sister Bitty & I DO NOT LIKE WATER so we will lay on the loungers on the patio & watch Mom swim. Our cousin Maggie is a Golden & LOVES the water............... but Aunty says that since Maggie's hair plays havoc w/the pool filter, she can only be in the pool for a SHORT time.

We do this every year my sister Bitty says, but since I just joined my FOREVER family this last March, this will be my first time.

We had a trial run on Memorial Day to see how I would be around Aunty's two cats. Since my favorite thing in the whole world to do is: CHASE CATS, Mom & my 2 Aunts were not to sure how it would go.........but they came to realize that I only chase cats because they will run. Aunty's two cats don't run from dogs (yet), so there is no fun in chasinfg them. Cousin Lacey & I actually touched nose to nose & said "Hi" up close & personal, while Cousin Princess stood her ground &"hissed" a HELLO @ me. Maybe there's hope for me w/Princess yet (hee-hee hee).

YEA....It's off to Aunty's we go :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) for our yearly "HOME AWAY FROM HOME' quiet time.

" As I write this, Mom is packing our bags in preparation. You should see EVERYTHING that is going w/us..........WOW, EVEN MORE STUFF THIS YEAR.

That's because my little sister Lady is SOOO sick & Mom needs to take ALL the stuff that she MUST have each day.

We always have a blast while we're there. Aunty & Mom love each other to death & Aunty ALWAYS buys Mom REALLY neat stuff in thanks for watching our cousins & the house. She even buys Mom the special food that she loves so much.

Mom always tells Aunty she doesn't want anything.............. that being able to take care of our cousins & the house is a pleasure & an AWESOME vacation, but Aunty won't "have any of it".

Every family should love each other the way Mom & Aunty do. If they did, the world would be a much nicer place & there would NEVER be any wars.

Mom's calling, so I guess I'd better go for now. She's saying it's time to go for our mid-morning walk. Have an awesome summer everyone, don't get sun burned out there.

WHEN HE HAS HIS BIKE SITTING IN DRIVE WAY AND WE TAKE CHARLIE BROWN OUT TO USE BATHROOM HE GOES OVER TO BIKE AND WHINES TO GET UP TO GO FOR A RIDE...HE LOVE THE CARRIER. HE LOVE TO RIDE....HE CAN SEE ALOT FROM INSIDE THE CARRIER AND HE STAYS MORE DRYER THAN US AND COMFORTABLE...

We take our 10 year old English Bulldog to Ocean City
Md every year in October. In Oct.he can go on the beach and boardwalk. Plus there is an endless summer car
cruise as he has his own ride.A custom jogging
stroller with lights, bells and chrome spoke wheels
which he loves riding in.Plus the people just ooh and
ah all over him so he has as much fun on vacation
as we do.

We leave Sparky home. BUT my grandparents live right beside us and they have 2 dogs. So every time we go on vacation they take care of Sparky. We return the favor though. When they go on vacation (which is often) we watch both thier dogs. AND THEY ARE BOTH A HAND FULL!!!! But they play with Sparky all the time!

We just got back from a couple of days in Monterey California. Great pet friendly beach cottages in Pacific Grove/Asilomar a couple miles down the coast from Cannery Row. We had a great time. Mom never goes without me - yahooo! Have a great summer everyone.

We're going to Disney World and of course Jake & 2 of our cats are going with us. They travel well in the truck and our 5th wheel trailer is our other home. Most of the camping loops at Ft Wilderness are now pet friendly loops and Jake has the best time, this will be his 3rd trip there!

All my life, my mommy has said that if they don't want me, they don't want her or her money! If I don't go, she does not go.

Mommy and me take mini vacations only via the car. So, we don't have to leave the kitty kats alone for more than a couple or three days (they don't care to go). Mommy loves the Litter Maid for this reason.

Mommy has not decided when we are going, we might wait till it is not so hot.

We take Major to the beach with us and when traveling we always check pettravel.com to get hotels that allow pets. We do not like to leave Major home. That is why we have a dog so we can enjoy his company and he can enjoy ours. How could we have a fun vacation without Major? Of course on a cruise ship dogs are not allowed so we will have a friend come to the house and house and dog sit for the week. They have a good time with him and we'll miss him dearly...

Mom and dad will take Tippy with them when they will take their summer vacation. I will go to my favorite place after my home (even if mommy think that I love that place more than home...hehehe) It's called Ottawa kennel and it's a five star place for dogs. We have each our room and some big sandy yard where we can play. And there's a human there, his name is Stephane and call him ''my'' Stephane because he take such a good care of me. I like this place soo much that I will not even want to kiss mommy goodbye when she leave me there because I am too happy ! Tippy think that she is the lucky one to go camping with mom and dad but I know better. BOL

My Mom is taking me to the beach again this year! We're actually leaving this Friday for Cape Cod where we're staying at a cool pet friendly place called the Outer Reach Resort. This is my second time going to the Cape with Mom, but last year I was just a little pupper, now Mom better look out! BOL. She already told me I'm not allowed to chase the little balls of sand that are blowing around because I are swallowed so much sand I was pooping out piles of it for the next two days, BOL! (Hey, it was no picnic for me either!)

I don't like to travel at all, so my pets are never left with anyone.
Besides, if I did enjoy traveling, I would always be worrying
about them, wondering how they're doing and what they're
doing. I love hanging out at the ol' homestead with my crew,
Redford, Nina, Cooper, Strider, Wishbone, Sparkee, Keighty,
and the Kittehs!

We're enjoying the summer at home with our humans and tagging along for any short trips where the three of us dogs are welcome.

Mom likes being around to do all of our care and feeding herself.

Woof!

I want to go on vacation this year (for the first time ever). I haven't decided where I would like to go and since I have NEVER left "my boys" at any boarding/kennels before, I will probably try to pick a place that is dog friendly.

If I can't find anything (cost efficient) yet fun, I will just plan some day or weekend trips, maybe some shopping where the stores are dog friendly and try some new eateries that have out door seating and don't mind me bringing "my boys" along.

Mom and Dad went on Vacation In May... and I had a Vacation with Mom's daughter... I was loved and treated like royalty... even down to having Orange Sherbet every evening... Oh.. and I forgot to tell you!... I was the King of the park, monitoring the kids and squirrels alike. Mandy said I was a real good boy!!!

This will be our third vacation with Mom and Dad. It's too expensive to board two dogs and it was cheaper to stay in the Hotel in Travere City Michigan. But Mom and Dad said never again in a Hotel. We were Bad kids, we don't like going to the bathroom in public on a LEASH for goodpaws sake..... It would sometimes take an hour at night for us to decide we found the right spot to you know what.. Too many smell already. Now they rent a house for a week with a fenced yard and we like that better. We have lots of fun. bye Lucy and Ricky Ricardo

Daddy is joining the navy and wants to go to Michigan to see his family before he goes in. We will not get to go. Too far too drive, and too hard to get 3 pups on an airplane. Mom and Dad are not sure what they will do yet. They won't board us. Most likely a pet babysitter. Maybe a friend will come stay here. We will see.

We were planning on taking Teddy & Britnee along with us this year, but there were only two pet friendly hotels where we were going and they wanted $100 or $125 non-refundable deposits (why don't they just call them fees???) per dog plus an extra $25.00 a day per dog. Since we are going to New Orleans where they also charge $30 plus per day for parking of a rental car, we decided the babies would be happier at home all week with Grandma. If I had the extra money to take them I definitely would but since they are staying with Grandma, we can fly cheaper than renting a vehicle and don't have to worry about paying for parking.

Our 2 boys go to a Pet Resort. They love it there. They get to go outside 7 or more times a day and play with other dogs. They have large outside runs with tunnels, wading pools & canopies for shade. They come back bathed and tired after their vacation.
