My pup, Stella, was spayed when she was 1. After spending the weekend with my dad's neighbor's fixed male, she has started humping other males! And when the other dog gets her off of him, she continues to hump air....

My Golden pup Happy started humping one specific toy of hers when she was 8 1/2 weeks old and she hasn't stopped doing it since (she is now 10 months old). We often take this toy away from her for a couple of days or weeks even, and then she won't hump anything... right until she gets the toy back. Btw this toy is a miniature Golden retriever :-)

I, personally, find this survey appaling.

Dog humping isn't funny nor appropriate for a website that has specific guidelines that tell you to not post anything that isn't family friendly.

This surely isn't family friendly, if you ask me!

HQ, I am appaled!

Isn't this a rather pawsonal subject matter? Pawsonally, it's the humans that I worry about, at least I am neutered.

Mommy says that she supports my lifestyle, because I only hump boy dogs. And I generally go for the front rather than the back! The taller the boy, the better.

I used to hump legs when I was a young puppy, but I don't hump anything anymore. Maybe it's because I was neutered at 6 months old.

Now that Barkley is neutered (has been for 2 years now) he only humps when he wants my sister's cat to play with him. And what was hilarious is that my sister had a friend over and she saw him doing that once and she screamed "HE IS RAPEING NOODLE!" :))

"Dog humping isn't funny nor appropriate for a website that has specific guidelines that tell you to not post anything that isn't family friendly."
Humping in dogs is very rarely anything to do with desire to breed. It's a way for a dog to release kept-in energy, relieve stress, and even part of play. Some say dominance is another reason, even the main one, but I personally don't think so.

For the people that are complaining...Please life is too short. Have fun. I hump my bed every night...Mom and dad ask me if I need a drink when I'm done...They get a kick out of it. Mom asked my trainer if she should discourage me from doing this and the trainer said why she's just doing something that makes her feel good...Have a Wonderful Day Everypups!!!

On a rare occassion, my neutered male dogs will hump another male dog, or each other. They know it is not allowed though.

Even though my dogs, are neutered, the instinct to bred is so stong, they will hump an unspayed female dog, which they rarely have contact with.

One of my Poms, who is 4 years old, and has been neutered since he was 5 and a half months old humps his blanket in his doggy bed like clockwork at 7 or 8 each night! It's sooooo embarrasing if someone is visiting! LOL! Then he gets tired and goes to bed! LOL!
I mean he really goes to town and wears himself out!

I am a fixed female and was humped for the first time by my pawrent's friend's fixed female puppy about a year ago. I had to hide in the outside bath to get away from her.

Then I started occasionally humping her back, and also another friend of Mum's fixed female.

It's a rare occurrence.

Bella only humps her stuffed duck that she has. It's way bigger than her, but still gets the job done! It's pretty funny because she bites the butt of the duck and holds the head of the duck down "there" with her paws! She rolls all around and finally will just lay there with the duck and sleep!

Chachi also only humped one specific toy and nothing else ever. So once at a Christmas party my brother said Chachi humps and I swore to everyone around that "my baby" would never do such a thing and that he was much too polite and proper to do the things my bro's dogs did. Well my brother comes out with "the bear" and Chachi performs his humping in front of everyone the second he gets the bear. Laughter ensues and I turn beet red but I let him continue because he was enjoying himself, lol.

Humping is the sign of dominance, etc.
My dog doesn't hump because (she is neutered aswell) she doesn't give a hoot! She doesn't care if I am the alpha, since I let her sleep, eat and cuddle!

Barked by: fargus' mom

August 18th 2009 at 4:04 pm

Fargus is a blanket humper. He has his "girlfriend," the quilted one with the blue butterflies on it, and he has his "dirty girl," the faux-fur leopard print blanket. (He snuggles with the blue one afterward; not so with dirty girl.) He really gets into it too, with part of the blanket between his teeth and one front paw holding the rest of it, uh "in place." Unfortunately, at 10 years old, he's prone to throwing his back out during these love fests. On the advice of his chiropractor, both of Fargus' textile gal-pals now hide in the closet.

For the record, he's neutered and has never humped any person, any of his adopted canine siblings, or his doggy play buddies. Apparently he just likes the way his blankets feel.
Barked by: Ellie (Dogster Member)

Ellie goes on to people's legs, but only when they are bare. And she's a spayed female! ah ah! NEVER wear a skirt or shorts near Ellie, that's an early lesson. But she is not very much into that... When we noticed she's like: "oh, you seem good to hump" we leash her and say sorry. Worst is when she sniffs your intimate parts...
