Doggone Good Dog Tip #108
Q: It's heating up outside. What kind of precautions should you take to ensure your furry friend doesn't succumb to the high temps?
A: With summer upon us, your babies do need special care. As usual, the breed, age and general health of your pet will come into play. But here's a general roundup of things to keep in mind for a fabulously cool summer. First, never leave your pet in the car--it takes just a matter of minutes for a vehicle to heat up to unbearable temps. Before letting your pals hit the sand or asphalt, do a touch test yourself to make sure your dog won't burn the pads of his/her feet. Also, make sure to provide lots of cold and fresh water and shade breaks throughout the day, too. Kiddie pools and hoses are fun ways to keep refreshed--and get in some playtime.

Dogster Community: For Love of Griffin
We recently received this heartfelt p-mail from Dogster member Jacki and thought we'd share her inspiring story.
I love my dogs. (And my cats, of course.) My dogs all have personalized leashes with their names on them. When I lost my beloved Griffin to illness earlier this year, I was devastated. As I was doing my spring cleaning, I came across his personalized leash, and sadness washed over me. Griffin was a rescued Rat Terrier with severe epilepsy. He lived such a short life, and I couldn't bear to let his leash just be a spare leash somewhere. We love to hear how Dogster has changed/improved/bettered your life. Keep barking those tales to firstname.lastname@example.org. If we use your note in an upcoming newsletter, we'll credit your account 10 Zealies!
Share the Dogster Love
How do you flaunt your love of Dogster? We have two hot-diggity-dog ideas. Make a badge for your pooch to put on your other web pages. (Learn how at: (www.dogster.com/badge/). Or, send in a self-addressed stamped envelope and score some Dogster stickers. They dress up any car bumper and woof up notebooks, too. Your friends will bark with envy. Mail to Dogster Stickers, 555 DeHaro Street, Suite 350, San Francisco, CA 94107.
May all animals be happy and safe,
Dogster, for the love of dog!
