Its mission is to prevent animal abuse and neglect. Located in Beckley, the county seat of Raleigh County, WV, the animal shelter staff provide adoption opportunities, animal control, public education, and 24-hour on-call emergency coverage for all county residents. By agreement with the Raleigh County Commission and the City of Beckley, the Humane Society enforces state and local laws pertaining to animals but is not a government agency. Animal Shelters 5366 Valley Road Berkeley Springs, WV 25411 The Humane Society of Morgan County is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. The kennel has only 17 runs. A renovated mobile home serves as cattery and office. We accept owner-relinquished, stray, unwanted and abandoned animals as space allows. We have no euthanasia technician on staff and strive to give each animal every chance to be adopted. We encourage and support several spay/neuter programs in the community.
We receive no government funding and rely entirely on donations from individuals and businesses, fund raising, and grant monies. Donations are always needed and greatly appreciated. They may be given for general operations or can be earmarked for spay/neuter projects, care of a particular animal, or shelter maintenance or improvements. Donations may also be made as memorials and honorariums (pet or human) or as birthday or holiday gifts. Special notes will be sent to acknowledge your gift.

Animal Shelters 513 Shelter Road PO Box 955 Fayetteville, WV 25840 The New River Humane Society, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit, charitable, humane organization committed to control the dog/cat population through spaying and neutering; to ensure all animals are treated with dignity and respect and free from owner abuse; and to provide them with a warm, caring home for resident's locally and out-of-state. The goals of the New River Humane Society, Inc. are that each dog and cat receives the undivided attention of every shelter staff, volunteer, and veterinarians, from grooming and health/fitness to one-on-one contact by way of walking, talking, and petting; and to educate the public on the effects of animal abuse and neglect. The New River Humane Society, Inc. was founded in July of 1999 and has maintained the daily operation of the local animal shelter known as the Fayette County Animal Control Center, located in Beckwith, West Virginia (just 7 miles outside of Fayetteville). The animal shelter is funded by the county government but monetary donations are always needed, appreciated and tax deductible.
