Training & Obedience
“Voted the best dog training facility in Prince William County and one of the best in the area by The Washingtonian magazine. The trainers are APDT and CPDT certified. The facility offers obedience training in "Levels" classes, as well as special classes for rowdy and cautious / nervous dogs. They also offer flyball, agility, some tracking, doggy daycare, play groups, seminars (on TTouch among other things), nutrition information, behavioral consultations, and CGC testing. ”
A good training facilityWe went to All About Dogs for awhile in 2006. Their training facility is very nice. It has rubber matting on the floors, which is very friendly to dog paws. It's large enough to keep the dogs at a safe distance from each other during training. Clips along the wall allow leashes to be safely secured for work that requires you to stand in front of your dog or use both hands. They offer levels training which requires dogs to know certain behaviors in order to move on to the next level. This is much better than classes that push dogs through in 8 weeks and expect them to have "learned" behaviors properly within that time. Classes at AAD are offered in the mornings, at night, and on Saturdays - so the schedule is flexible and you can make up missed classes easily or refresh certain behaviors in the lower levels any time you want. My only gripe with this facility is that they don't believe in any training devices other than Haltis/Gentle Leaders and Easy Walk harnesses. I'm no fan of head halters as they can potentially be much more damaging than other training devices this place shuns, such as prong collars. |
