This 1769 colonial plantation is dedicated to honoring, preserving, and educating the public through a number of programs, activities, reenactments, and special events of the significance it played in shaping America's culture and history. Dogs are allowed throughout the park; they are not allowed in buildings. Dogs must be under owner's control, leashed, and cleaned up after at all times.

One of the world's largest international maritime history museums, it is located on 550 wooded acres on the shores of Lake Maury where visitors can also see a full-scale replica of the Civil War ironclad USS Monitor, and in addition to the many ongoing and changing exhibits, they have an annual 5-week concert series each summer.
