Description:
Four Paws Rescue is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization that is dedicated to helping homeless dogs and cats. Four Paws rescues stray and abandoned cats, dogs, puppies, and kittens from local high-kill shelters, places them in caring foster homes (if available) and then adopts them into loving, life-long homes. Four Paws Rescue has been rescuing dogs and cats since 2000. We have placed over 5,000 companion animals into loving homes, while enriching the lives of their adoptive families.
General Information:
Four Paws Rescue started as one woman's dream in 1995 and was crystallized in 2000 through obtaining a non-profit 501c3 status. A second mortgage on a house and a local fundraiser built a solar powered shelter on 11 acres in Cache Valley. A local woman cares for the cats with adoption assistance from a local PetsMart.
The shelter has facilities for the housing and care of dogs. We provide food, shelter, and medical care to the homeless dogs and we work to find permanent, loving homes for them.
Our dogma:
The reason dogs and cats need to be rescued in the first place is that there are too many of them and not enough homes. We believe that the best way to attack the overpopulation problem is to attack the root of the problem - prevent more dogs and cats from being born. Every pet that Four Paws rescues is spayed or neutered before being placed in his/her adoptive home. We strive to educate the public on the importance of spaying and neutering.
Dog adoption events are held almost all Saturdays at the Layton Petsmart (859 Hill Field Road in Layton, UT) from 11:30 am-4:00 pm with a couple Four Paws representatives and a few volunteers on site for adoptions. If you are interested in a certain dog(s) please call Lisa (director of Four Paws Rescue) at (435) 752-3534 to set up an appointment or let her know ahead of time to bring the dog(s) for you to see at the Layton Petsmart.
