First time visit

The staff is very friendly and just love the animals that it takes care of. For a first time visit there is an extra 35.00 charge but they load you up with a bunch of free stuff (Free food, coupons, flea and ticket meds and heart worm meds as well!) They answered any questions my mommy and daddy had. There was a long wait as they are slightly under staffed but the attitude and mentality there is awesome compared to the last place we went. I even peed on the floor and they didn't care (but mommy and daddy were embarassed :D )

One good vet, but almost always a long wait

First, let's deal with logistics. The State College Veterinary Hospital is located on West College Avenue (near the intersection of College and Blue Course Drive), with a small parking lot directly in front of the building. And now onto what really matters when choosing a vet... Although Abby never attended the State College Veterinary Hospital, this is where I took her older sister for several years. During the years I took my dog there, there was a lot of staff turn-over in regard to veterinarians, some of whom were obviously inexperienced and, in all honesty, made me feel very unsure about the quality of care my dog received. However, Dr. Kathleen Kocher remained a constant at the State College Veterinary Hospital in all the years I took my dog there. Dr. Kocher is a very straightforward (blunt even), knowledgeable, and experienced vet who was always able to deal with the situation at hand and answered all of my questions. Also, Dr. Kocher and her staff (receptionists, technicians) very obviously cared about the animals in their care and provided excellent medical care. Aside from the revolving door of veterinarians at that clinic, which has hopefully subsided by now, my only other complaint would be the very long wait each and every time I took my dog in. I understand that almost all medical practitioners overbook and don't refuse to see walk-in emergencies, but the fact you almost always had to wait 30-60 minutes to be seen when you have an appointment was one of the main reasons I ended up switching vets when my dog passed away and I got a new puppy.

Vet

State College is a wonderful area and I recommend a veterinary hospital in this area because they are experts in this area. This is a very modern area with up to date advancements in all fields.
