They saved my life!

I lived at the Tompkins County SPCA for 6 months, during which they fed me, petted me, and provided me with medical care. No one wanted to adopt me for a very long time, and at some other shelters I might not have made it. I was lucky to be in a no-kill shelter! When my human came to adopt me and my "sister" Teagan, one of the volunteers went out of her way to say goodbye to me. That was kind of them. The shelter staff also named me and Teagan. My human got used to our shelter names and never changed them. My human loves me and my sister very much and she is grateful that the SPCA brought us together.

It's great to be alive!

I was rescued 5 years ago from the Syracuse ASPCA shelter - a dismal shelter indeed. No comparison to this shelter! This shelter is a beautiful place. Not only is it beautiful, Animal People, a prominent national journal on animal issues, ranked Tompkins County SPCA the safest community for companion animals in the United States. TCSPCA has been a no kill shelter for adoptable pets since 2001 even while maintaining its animal control contracts with local municipalities. GOOD JOB!

Super Shelter

This is a fairly new shelter that is no-kill...and thank God for that. It is a beautiful building that is fun to visit especially for those who say, "I do not want to go to a shelter and see all those sad faces". You will not experience that here. It has many clean, private, sound-proof, rooms for the dogs and they are not stressed out like in other shelters. They also have their own veterinarian and work hand in hand with Maddie's Fund and Cornell University. Nice place to visit!
