“Open year-round, 9:00 a.m. to dusk. Belle Isle Marsh Reservation preserves 152 acres of the 241-acre Belle Isle Marsh, Boston's last remaining salt marsh. A unique place to explore, the reservation exemplifies the type of wetlands that once lined the Massachusetts Bay shore. Centuries of flourishing plant life have made the marsh more fertile than the richest farm land. Its protected waters are nurseries to fish and shellfish and are critical habitat to many saltmarsh plants and wildlife rare to the metropolitan area. In addition to the preservation of the natural areas of the marsh, the DCR manages 28 acres of landscaped park with pathways, benches and an observation tower. There are so many great people who walk their dogs here.”
Bell Isle MarshIf you have never been here then you don't know what your missing. This park has all kinds of dogs, big dogs, little dogs, and anything in between. It is a leash park that is open with no fences, but most people walk there dogs off leash. The park is protected area run by the state, and is very clean. On a nice day you can find as many as 50 or more doggies there. The inner loop is 1/2 mile around, and the outer loop is 3/4 of a mile. It is great place to get exercise for you and your pet. There is no public drinking water so make sure you bring some as the dogs play hard here and need there water. Come by you won't be sorry. |
Belle IsleThis is a very relaxing place for dog lovers. Many times the rules of keeping a dog on the leash are not followed. If you have a small dog you will have to keep an eye open for large dogs that are roaming free.I notice that the owners who do not leash dogs also do not pick up after them. Watch your step! It could be a 5 * place if the rules were followed |
