“Local humane society - has many adoptable animals (dogs and cats, as well as hamsters, rabbits, guinea pigs and other pocket pets, and the occasional birds and reptiles). Accepts owner surrenders and works with rescue groups to try and find homes for homeless pets. Foster program - FOSTERS ALWAYS NEEDED! Also has a humane investigation department, and can arrange to visit schools and other groups for presentations. Has several adoption events through the year. Was the 2006 "Best Place to get a Pet!" in the local Buzz reviews!”

Lots of adoptable pets

I adopted bonnie from the Champaign County Humane Society. While I agree with the review above that they do the best that they can on their limited budget, many of the animals are sick and need many vet visits after being adopted to get well. Obviously, this is extremely costly to new adoptive parents and in some cases can force the adoptive parent to give the pet back for lack of finances.

Wonderful place doing what they can for the animals!

I came into here - a stray with a bad injury to my leg and no one to claim me and help me. The staff here did so much to help me! A foster mom took care of me. Then the shelter found me my forever family! I'm just one of many many animals they have helped, and are still trying to help. If you are looking for a animal to share your home, please go check out all the great animals here, and help this place help the animals!
