Trash To Treasure Rescue is a no-kill rescue in the San Francisco Bay Area. We are currently in the process of obtaining our 501(c)(3) non-profit satus. We rescue cats from an EXTREMELY high-kill shelter in the central valley.
It is a very small shelter, however almost always has close to or even more than 200 cats and kittens. Because they are such a small shelter, nobody knows they exist and they are very lucky if they get one adoption directly from the shelter each month. They rely on rescues such as us to pull the cats that are going to be euthanized.
That shelter and its employees are very grateful to and appreciative of us because we take in a lot of the cat that no other rescue typically wants; we take in a lot of tabbies, black cats, special needs kitties (one eye, deaf, ringworm, etc.). Almost all of the cats that come into our rescue are cats that are considered not easily adoptable.
At the shelter, having a cold (upper respiratory infection) is a death sentence because not many rescues want to take a sick cat... but we do. We treat all the unhealthy/sick cats, and once they are healthy, they are adopted into loving homes. We are, in a sense, a rescue and rehabilitation service because we take in the sick, shy, and underweight cats and get them healthy again.
That is exactly why we started our rescue, because these cats didn't ask to be born black or tabby, they didn't ask to get a cold, but they will suffer and be euthanized because of it.
We do not have a physical location for a shelter, meaning that all of the cats in our rescue are placed in loving and caring foster homes until their forever homes are found.
