The Hermitage Cat Shelter is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization supported entirely by donations. We are dedicated to the shelter, protection, and care of homeless cats, especially those that are often not considered adoptable by other organizations. We are both an adoption facility and long-term sanctuary for those felines who are “adoption-challenged.” including felines who are FIV or FeLV-positive, and other types of chronic health issues. This fenced dog park is lighted, with person and dog-friendly water fountains, shade, tables, separate 2 acres for small dogs and 2 acres for big dogs, and the ground is covered with turf. Dog bowls, trashcans and waste disposal scoopers are provided as well. There are no fees and the hours are 7 am -10pm 7 days a week. The park is named "Miko's Corner Playground," in honor of TPD police dog Miko, who died from injuries sustained in the line of duty in 2006. Miko was chasing a suspected carjacker who jumped from an overpass at Kino and Aviation parkways. Miko was severely injured and had to be euthanized.
