June 25 is Take Your Dog to Work Day

I can take my pal Buster to work any time I want. It's a job perk in my profession, but veterinary staff members aren't the only folks who are able to take their pets to work.

Many workplaces and offices allow well behaved pets to accompany their owners on their daily toils. I have many clients who are lucky enough to work in such places. They report that they and their pets are not the only beneficiaries. Co-workers often enjoy the canine companionship just as much.

Workplaces as diverse as hospitals and dot.coms have been known to allow pets on the job. How about your workplace?

Take Your Dog to Work Day was developed in 1999 to promote pet adoption. That is a very worthy goal. It also can serve another benefit to people who participate: if your boss falls in love with your dog on June 25, perhaps you can turn every day into your own personal Take Your Dog to Work Day.

Photos: 1) Buster preps for the office. 2) Glasses won't work. Looks like he's going to have to wear his contacts.
