Imagine the difference one dog can make in the world. Earl, the muse behind the comic strip "Mutts," has passed to the Rainbow Bridge. Earl was 18.

Through the Mutts comic strip, Earl was able to reach millions of humans with his message of care and concern for our furfriends. People who otherwise would never have thought twice about the treatment of our dog and cat symbiotes have learned that chaining dogs is bad and that our furkids dream with us.

Earl, you will be missed here but I have no doubt your influence will continue to be felt from the Bridge.

Here is the beginning of the post from

Saying goodbye to our dear friend, Earl McDonnell

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Earl, Patricks canine companion for 18+ years, and steadfast muse for the MUTTS strip. Earl was a joyful dog with a zest for life. He will be greatly missed by Patrick and his wife, Karen, their cat MeeMow, and the entire MUTTS family.
