TELLY presenter Paul O'Grady yesterday praised vets who saved the sight of his beloved dog Buster.

Buster, known to millions of viewers as a frequent guest on the Paul O'Grady Show on Channel 4 and ITV, needed surgery for an infected ulcer in his left eye.

The operation was a success - and Buster, an 11-year old shi-tzu and bichon frise cross, is now back with his relieved master.

Paul, 51, who spent thousands on the treatment, said: "The vets have been fantastic and I am so grateful to them for saving Buster's sight. It's been so difficult not having him around. But it was a great comfort knowing he was in such good hands." Sarah Gray, an opthalmic nurse at the Animal Health Trust clinic in Newmarket, Suffolk, said: "Buster may be a celebrity but he was the perfect patient. He is such a character. We're delighted to have treated him successfully."
