Hi guys!

We're expecting a new addition to our family within the next week or so and we need some tips on potty training her!

She's still a little puppy and will undoubtedly need our owner's guidance. We've had a yorkie puppy in our midst before and she proved to be very hard to train.

So, what I'm getting at is just asking for any specific tips for yorkies or any general guides.

Thanks in advance!

This is a good resource...the experiences of a few Yorkie moms training their babies...what worked, what didn't work: http://sayorkies.forumotion.net/yorkie-general-f1/potty-training-log -t81.htm

I have the pattern for the doggy diapers if you want it...they are easy to make and work like a charm! little angel

It seems to take awhile and a lot of due dilligence. We take our pups out about every 1/2 hr when we get them. We do this like clockwork. Later we tend to extend this some when it seems like things are starting to catch on. You have to watch the puppy like a hawk at all times. When they go in the house you have to catch them at it, scold them, and put them outside. This gets frustrating at times, but you have to stick with it. They eventually start to get it and then it becomes easier. For some reason though, it seems like they go in the house from time to time even when you think they shouldn't. This can go on for quite some time. Be sure to keep stuff on hand for cleaning up after them. A carpet cleaning machine is good to have around at all times too. Maggie is almost 7 months old now and is finally just about trained, with only a very occassional accident in the house.
