This profile pic is my dog after coming home from the emergency vet at midnight.

For those of you who love and care for your pets by having them spayed or neutered. I got Callie spayed at the spay and neuter clinic on Thursday because it was only 140 bucks. I generally do not cheap out on my pets but I thought, "Hey, this is a clinic run by the city, what can go wrong?" Well, by Friday her incision was swollen, Saturday she was running a 103 temperature so I called a vet to come to my home (even bigger mistake because he did bugger all for her), by Sunday her incision had split open. She will have emergency surgery today and all in, this cheaper spay ended up costing 1500 dollars. Moral of the story, even if you have to beg, borrow or steal, you get what you pay for so you might as well pay for the best!

Can I please- give you a hug- and a kiss?

I had an appt to get my puppy spayed at a clinic for only 40 dollars with a voucher from the SPOT program. I ended up having to cancel because she was diagnosed with a liver shunt. They decided to do both surgeries at the same time at the veterinary specialist where we took her and it was only 150 for the additional spay so I guess im glad that we didnt go through with the cheap procedure.

Awww I'm so sorry to hear that Callie.

I've heard horror stories from those low cost spay/neuter clinics, but I've also heard they are great....I guess when it comes down to it, maybe the right thing to do would be check prices.

I know when I got Nallah spayed, we were able to do it in February (national spay/neuter month) so we got a 10% discount at our vet and it only cost us about $130...really not that much cheaper than your clinic...and it was supposed to be low cost.

I'm sorry again that this happened, I hope she is ok!! Hugs & prayers sent your way...hug

That's MR.- Momma's Boy to- you!

We're so sorry that happened to you. Hope you get better soon!

Maybe you could file a complaint with the city? These people shouldn't be allowed to operate on any more pups.

To reconstruct- every mummy's- shoes!

Not all cheaper clinics are like that. I worked as a Vet tech at an SPCA. We had 2 wonderful, and very capable doctors. We rarely had dogs or cats come in due to complications. Just do some research and ask around.

I'm sorry you went through that. Louie had surgery at a rural clinic and developed such a bad infection he almost died. I know how scary that is. hug
