Do any other of you have bad hips? I do. Hip joint dysplasi its called where I live. One year ago I felt really bad. Now I have little pieces of gold in my body, and Im fresh like a pup.

But I wonder if this is something that happens to us beagles in general or if its just my bad luck. Do you know?

I do think it's a common ailment in beaglies, also in larger breeds. I'm glad you are a golden pup and have relief from your pain.

I worry enough- for all of us!- :-(

Dogbert, we are really glad you are feeling better. Pretty much any breed is prone to hip dysplasia but I didn't think it was as common in beagles. Someone mentioned it being found more in larger breed dogs...that's what I heard too.

I think hip dysplasia is hereditary right?

I have hip dysplasia and arthritis in my hips, but it isn't bad as long as I am taking my Cosequin and get regular exercise.

I was not wanting to go on walks, and I was not lifting my leg to urinate. That's how we discovered it, several months ago.

Oooh, mom doesn't know what the gold is either but she's thinking it's interesting and wants some of that for her. Mom says she has hip displaysia too and it's caused by chasing a certain beaglie around and having those big dogs pull her all over the place that she worked with for all that time. That and having to lift Angus up onto the bed and the truck and anywhere else his big behind can't get up - BOL!

Angus has hip problems but he is a huge black and tan mix - he does the glucosomine/choindroitin and we all get flaxseed oil anyway 'cause it's so darn good for us!
