Open Fontanels

I have a new 8 week old Shih Tzu. She weighs 1 pound 1 ounce. The vet says her fontanels (soft spot on head) is still open and could cause problems if it does not close. Has anyone had this problem???

Don't fret! My 5 month old shih tzu also has an open fontanelle. This usually happens to most runts of the litter. Very rarely do these soft spots cause serious issues. If the shih tzu really does have problems the symptoms should start to show before the dog is 4 months old. They can lead totally normal lives with just a bit of extra love and care. The safest she can be is with no children and other dogs. Although I break both of those rules (: good luck
