Dog Health > Human Xanax for dogs?

Daisy- Allison

I would try the benadryl. It has helped me with anxious dogs-esp Daisy who was a puppy mill mom. She was terrified of baths when I first got her-literally frozen in fear. The last time the dogs took Benadryl was during Hurricane Irene. They were able to sleep that night. My dogs are small so I use children's benadryl. Call the vet for the dosage suggestion.

About Xanax-
Xanax and Alprazolam are the same medication. Xanax is the brand name-Alpraazolam is the generic. For serious anxiety I would try it instead of Ace. I agree with the zombie effect other posters noted from Ace. Of course I would get it from the vet-the dosage will be very different from the human dosage.
I'm an addiction counselor and Xanax/Alprazolam does induce euphoria in some people and has a pleasant calming sleepy effect on all.
So much that people can become addicted to it. This is when it would have to be discontinued (titrated) slowly, so as not to cause withdrawl seizures. I once met an addict who couldn't get xanax and took her dogs!
For occasional use in people or dogs-you don't have to worry about that.

Dog Health > Angel vomited his heartworm pill :(

My pharmacist told me when I vomited my medicine (sorry this is so grossconfused) that if you see the pill in the um vomit frown then it was not absorbed by the body.

Did you look at the vomit? If the pill was there then Angel didn't get any medicine. So you could safely dose again. Keep in mind that they have a much shorter intestinal transit time then we do. Now our dogs have us examining their vomit! Like picking up isn't bad enough! BOL!

This is a great movie.
Laura the "Madonna of the Mills" of "No More Tears Rescue" rescued me from the puppy mill where I used to work. My last diary entry is about her if any pup wants to read it.

Please go watch this movie!!!
Laura is an amazing personcheer

Choosing the Right Dog > Ridiculous! (Puppies Store Rant)

Hi Guest

Recently a pet store near my house was shut down. The puppies were all very thin and in poor health. Several were purchased by families only to pass away from kennel cough. Many people complained to the ASPCA and they came and took all the puppies and shut the place down.

You sound like a caring person. I really hear your concern for the puppy in your post. Please consider making a complaint. You could be the straw that breaks the puppy store's back!

Don't worry Tobies mom.
Lots of us pups love to eat grass. My mom calls me Goat sometimes cause I love to eat it so much. I am very particular and only like some kinds of grass-maybe your old grass wasn't yummy!
Congrats on your new place! It sounds pawsome!dog
