It's been awhile since I've posted in Dogster, but I thought I should let all his pup pals know that Hershey crossed to the bridge yesterday.

Hershey had been going steadily downhill since the lumpectomy to remove the spindle cell tumor, and his joints had recently been failing him. Last night, he collapsed outside and simply could not get up again, and I had to make the painful decision to bring him to the emergency vet and say goodbye.
He may have been a grumpy bear, but he was my grumpy bear. My first dog, and I will miss him dearly. little angel

What was a routine visit for anal glands turned out to be a lot more than that. The vet noticed a lump near Hershey's genitalia as an incidental finding as she was palpating him, and we opted to do a cytology.
The DVM just called with the results: a malignant nerve sheath tumor. Hershey's going in on Tuesday for further bloodwork and x-rays.

Looking for other Dogsters who've received this diagnosis, or similar, and their experiences.

Beasley posted Packdog, which is an up-and-coming site.
Right now it's just for pet pages/photos, and only for dogs, but supposedly they plan on adding a forum and an area for cats.

This is me posting out of curiosity and to see if this is a common thing, or something that's just quirky.

Hershey has always had a habit of taking a few bites of kibble from his bowl, tossing them onto the carpet, barking and play-bowing at each, and then eating them. He also does this with treats and once in awhile with a chunk of canned food.

I always found this a fun little quirk, but I've also always wondered why he does this.

Corgi/Beagle or Corgi/Spaniel sounds about right. Corgi "designer breeds" are growing more common sadly frown

Why can I not edit? Booo dogster naughty laugh out loud

I discovered just now that Shar Pei can be chocolate, and also long haired. Who knew shrug

This guy also doesn't have any chocolate in his family tree, wwhich is weird, because I thought both parents had to be chocolate for a dog to be?
