While I feel like we were really lucky with Gus (he was the easiest of all our dogs to house break) I think a LOT of it had to do with being able to take him to work. He literally went outside every few hours (even at night) for the first month so he never really had a chance to have accidents.

I sure feel for you, though, as I've had dogs that drove me insane with the house breaking. Hang in there - maybe consult a behaviorist to see if it is axiety related?? Good luck!

Well, Gus is pretty lazy all the time but I still noticed a difference in his mood this summer (we had weeks on end of mind to high 90s here in Denver - very rare). Honestly, he acted like we felt...miserable! But, I'm already starting to see a change in him as it's cooled off already smile

Joining the bandwagon - LOVE LOVE LOVE the bullies!!! (don't tell Brody or Skylar...I love them just as much, but Gus is just "special" wink )

Specifically, what do I love:
- stealing the seat any time someone gets up
- his affinety for dirty sheets on laundry day
- when he gets the zoomies in the back yard
- how every time we come home (no matter how short a time we've been gone) he gets excited like we've been apart for ages
- his ability to eat food without chewing a single piece!
- the reverse bucking bronco: the moves he makes when worked up
- his gremlin "bark"...on the rare occasion he lets us hear it smile
- the way he runs when he sees the malaseb & cotton balls come out
...I could go on and on and on....big grin

Well, it's just now starting to get hot in Denver so we've not yet had to bring out the fan(s)...I would venture to guess that Gus will be a HUGE fan (no pun intended wink )!

(forgive me if this is a repeat, as I haven't read all the previous posts)...Do you like to get dressed up?

Thanks guys! I was far more upset about missing nearly a whole day of food than I was about the surgery wink

I'll be sure to let you know when we find out more about the pallate surgery (my days of megaphone snoring may be limited!)...

Yep, it's true! The family jewels are no more. I survived the surgery without complications and am already back to my normal, lazy self smile I was also micro chipped and Ma had them look at my pallate while I was under. Turns out I do, indeed, have an elongated pallate and a very small trachea opening soooo I will eventually have to have that fixed (gotta breath, right?), but they want to wait until I'm a bit older.

Anyway, just wanted to share - Happy Tuesday!!!

Hmmm, it's hard to tell thinking
Some bulldogs are certain "louder" than others (snorts, snores, etc) due to their build. I would think the vet should be able to tell you if he has kennel cough or some sort of chest congestion, or if it's an elongated pallet issue, or perhaps a nasal opening one - or if it's just normal bulldog stuff.

Sorry I can't be of more help! We are new bulldogs owners and have only had Gus for about 4 months now & have been lucky b/c he's not had any health issues at all. Perhaps a bulldog specific group would be able to help you (Bulldog Domain, Bulldog FX on yahoo, etc)?

Good luck smile
